Biographers of Shakespeare have been really lucid about how unoriginal he was, & how he may well have considered it a waste of time. So many of his plots, sometimes entire plays, were borrowed & recycled. ...And nothing that ever achieved sacred or folk status (scripture, folklore) ever got there without being retold, copied, cut & pasted, worked over by many hands, voices, generations. ...Thanks for this reminder that it's still going on...
