Thanks for the reminder of the transcendent power of love when it is lived with honesty and bravery.

As an 11 year old kid who was really into sports, it confused me when Pele - during his farewell speech - told the fans in Giants Stadium that "love is the most important thing in life." Then to my embarrassment, he had the stadium shout "LOVE!" with him three times. It felt too.....soft...a sentiment for an athlete to share? To mushy a thing for a stadium full of fans to chant?

But Pele was a god to me so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. A voice in my head said, you might not get it now but later you will. 45 years later, it's clear to me why Pele chose "love" to end his speech to the billions listening around the world.

I so enjoyed this exploration of love from 7 different angles! I can’t believe Romans had to learn about kissing! That’s so wild! hooks has long been a touchstone for me when it comes to thinking about love! And Baldwin, too, obviously:) Thanks for linking to Noted!
